NEWBORNS & INFANTS & CHILDREN

Years of practice are required to enable a practitioner to feel and respond to a newborn’s tissue. I advise parents to seek out Doctors of Osteopathy and not craniosacral therapists because this profession (Osteopathy) is where the work originated and the training is in depth and requires many hours of certified/tested time.

I have treated newborns as early as two days old. They can be treated on the first day of their life, and in fact, I strongly recommend that treatment begin within the first month of life. Profound change can occur that enables your baby to grow to its full potential. I have named several situations in this website that can be helped and/or alleviated.

ADOLESCENTS

Osteopathy can assist in the prevention of health problems, helping children to make a smooth transition into normal, healthy adulthood.

Osteopaths care for the child as a whole person. This holistic approach encompasses all functions and influences including the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

Osteopathy is a great way to prevent excessive strain patterns from building up in susceptible areas of a teenagers body. It can also be great for creating a healthy awareness of their bodies and allow them to recognize potential problems before they manifest.

PREGNANCY & NURSING

Hormonal balance is crucial during a woman’s pregnancy. The mother’s cranial and structural strains can affect the pituitary gland which regulates hormone production, affecting the quality of menstrual periods and sometimes emotional swings. Restricted motion of the sacrum and pelvis may interfere with nerve impulses and local circulation and cause uterine muscle cramps and pelvic pain. Likewise, thoracic and rib cage free motion is crucial to good flow of milk while nursing.

ADULTS & SENIORS

Dr. Newlon’s manipulative technique is noninvasive, but direct and effective. No harsh movement is done; using a technique called direct myofascial release, it is likened to the feel of acupressure. Occasionally she uses a muscles energy technique and a spring recoil technique. She also utilizes the Percussor Hammer, developed for use in the Osteopathic field that effectively but gently breaks down old scar tissue.

Aging is a natural physiological process in life. One part of the body which is greatly affected by the process of aging is the musculoskeletal system. As we get older, the elasticity present within our body deteriorates, which increases the risk of injuring the soft tissues and bony structures of the body.
